Students that get good grades have friends that get good grades as well.
Students that do their best get notice by their teachers. If a student is trying their best the teachers will recognize the effort and award them points when they need it. For example if a student has a research project and a teacher sees and notices that he or she tried their best and the final grade was a C then the teacher based on effort could change the grade to a B.
In school when a student has low grades he or she might need to ask the teacher for additional work to bring the grade up. Teachers have tons of extra curriculum work for students.
